Title: Penzance to Plymouth Diagrams
Post by: marky7890 on April 29, 2011, 12:36:41
Hello,
I am trying to work out the passenger train diagrams for services in Cornwall, by using the platform numbers on the national rail website for Plymouth.
However I'm having some problems:

It appears that the 1145 GSL - PLY gets in at 1230 and arrives on platform 6, and the 1046 PNZ - PLY gets in at 1246 and is also on platform 6. Do they merge? and where do they go?

Also the 1239 PLY to PNZ starts on platform 3, and so does the 1254 PLY to GSL. I cant work out what these do before.

Thanks,
Mark

There as least one through service from Penzance to Gunnislake which doubles back between the Royal Albert Bridge and Plymouth. Leaves Penzance at 12:54 and arrives at Gunnislake at 15:40.

i have been on the gunislake branch a few times i was under the impression that it always went from platform 3, however last time it departed plymouth from platform 5 and the return finished on platform 8

1145 GSL - PLY terminates at Plymouth (1230) and forms 1239 PLY - PNZ
1046 PNZ - PLY terminates at Plymouth (1247) and forms 1254 PLY - GSL
Both these services generally use Platform 3, as the connection to London tends to use Platform 4.

platform 4 is down line, platform 6 is the up line, do you mean they use platform 5 for the lonodn connection on 6?

Nope, I meant as I said before, all of our Platforms are bidirectional.

You obviously don't visit Plymouth in the morning then, a few services to London which start at Plymouth use it, as well as some Crosscountry services.
