Title: Some light mental exercise for a wet Thursday morning
Post by: CyclingSid on February 27, 2020, 07:34:36
Another test of the endless knowledge of the members of the forum.

In a BBC News picture feature there is photograph of Harpur Hill, Derbyshire (home of HSE test labs?)

What is the train in the picture. I don't know the answer, but would get the impression that it is former Tube stock?

The Health and Safety Executive's laboratory is also situated not far from Harpur Hill. A railway has been constructed with old Jubilee Line, London Underground trains that were used to reconstruct the 7/7 London Tube bombings. When the red flag is flying at the laboratory, an explosion is imminent.

In addition to the above, it’s the short lived ‘83 stock’, removed from service after a relatively short life, IIRC because they had very long dwell times because of single leaf pocket doors (a bit like D stock aka 230s).

I wonder if they were suitably representative for the trials as almost all tube stock then and now had/has double sliding doors?
