Title: Yorkshire Steam Railway - all aboard
Post by: grahame on March 17, 2018, 03:34:35
Channel 5, Friday evenings, I watched episode 3 last night.   Episodes available for catch up via

https://www.my5.tv/the-yorkshire-steam-railway-all-aboard/season-1

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at some of the goings on; clearly a show such as this condensed all the highlights and issues from a much longer period into just an hour ...

Some really good photography but - inevitably - a rather simplistic storyline to appeal to the greater audience: "Will Piglet get home in time for his tea?"

What I want to know is: can the boss really be as laid-back* as he is portrayed?

All-in-all, an enjoyable Friday-night programme that doesn't require too much brain-power after a hard week at work.

* I chose the term 'laid-back' deliberately to avoid any further nastygrams landing in Graham's inbox...

Channel 5 also did the "Ice Road Truckers" and there is always a drama in the run up to each advert break - "Will he die of frostbite", only to find after the ad he didn't.  Identical style.
That criticism aside it's a very light programme that shows off the chosen staff in a very good light.  And very laid back.
Great scenery and superb rail shots.
Really enjoyable (despite being filmed north of the Tamar).
No offence intended to anyone north of the Tamar by the way  ;D

Didn't know you could be North of the Tamar, only East or West thereof (and just for interest, I'm only just East)  ::) :P

Going completely off topic, but.
North of the Tamar is a Cornish expression, which means anywhere else in the UK.
Nothing to do with real geography of course, for which you have kindly pointed out.
 ;D
