Title: Advertising early purchase tickets - why LNER but not GWR?
Post by: grahame on April 09, 2021, 05:27:03
From the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald (https://www.strathspey-herald.co.uk/news/staycation-tickets-go-on-sale-at-lner-234461/):

Quote
London North Eastern Railway will tomorrow place thousands of tickets on sale right through to September to help people plan their summer staycations in the UK.

The new summer availability comes as a nationwide poll found that 18 per cent of Britons have absolutely no plans to jet off abroad in the near future, claiming that holidays in the UK are the way forward.

In fact, more than half (52 per cent) of those surveyed said there is so much of the UK they have not yet explored that they’d be quite happy to holiday here for the rest of their days.

Posting in "Across the West" rather than a wider board because I want to ask "Why are LNER doing this with loads of publicity, but now GWR which is also very much a land of staycations?"
