Title: 0705 from Bridgwater departing 3 mins early
Post by: John R on July 22, 2013, 07:34:21
This service (HST to London) always seems to leave Bridgwater early. Today it is shown as having departed 3 mins early. The WTT (according to Realtraintimes) is shown as 0705 1/2.

I'm puzzled as to how this can be allowed to happen on a regular basis. Or is it some quirk with the system and it actually leaves on time.

What would happen if I had an advance ticket and missed it? Unless I had a mobile device it would be very hard to prove.

Quite likely caused thus:

As the signal at Bridgwater is on the end of the platform it is possible that the front of the train has to pass it to be platformed accordingly.  This will cause the Train Describer to step forward and the train reporting systems to treat the train as departed.

Only guessing this may be the case ::)

That sounds very plausible. And thus would only affect HST's and not the usual dmus.
