Title: Midwales railway - Merthyr to Moat Lane - closed from 31st December 1962 Post by: grahame on December 31, 2023, 06:42:53 The MidWales Railway was closed from this day (31st December) 1962. Today, the railway system in Wales is in three major disjoint parts - South Wales, North Wales, Cambrian lines in MidWales.
There are suggestions of linking the various sections, but re-opening Merthyr to Moat Lane and Afon Wen to Bangor would seem unlikely candidates. Am I correct in remembering it had low platforms and they brought steps to train doors? Seems improbable, probably childhood memory running wild or short legs at that edge?
