Title: Motorail via Melksham
Post by: Mark A on August 11, 2022, 21:01:15
The cover of the 1972 Motorail brochure. A twitternaut has identified the location as... Trowbridge. The train is perhaps the Penzance motorail heading for Swindon and then London... via Melksham?

(Well, it's 1972, so if it cannot run via Newbury, the route via Devizes is no longer available...)

May have been the Kensington to St Austell Motorail, diverted via Melksham, from it's usual Lavington route.  Or perhaps the Sheffield (??) to Newton Abbot diverted to run via Bradford on Avon from Bristol, instead of via Bridgwater?
