Title: Have a good Christmas everyone
Post by: grahame on December 25, 2020, 03:44:38
Have a good Christmas - quietly at home for most of you, with a special thought to those key workers who have to work on Christmas Day.  A big thank you to Santa, aided by his helper Tom, who have been around already (after a last minute scare when it was realised that Rudolph is not fitted with a retention system).

We'll be up for a quiet light breakfast (well - Billy is up now in his excitement, and has just explored the garden for smells and signs of reindeer) and a lunch - breaking with tradition - of roast beef.  Brief visits to the Coffee Shop at 10 a.m. (http://www.passenger.chat/24413) and 4 p.m. (http://www.passenger.chat/24413) and no doubt much of the rest of the day watching old movies and playing with computer games online data, a pint or two of Christmas Guiness and an early night.

Traditionally, we'll have leftovers ...
Cold in salad on 26th
Risotto on 27th
Curried on 28th
and sausages on 29th ...
and that's just the Brussels.

From a minute after midnight, new tiers come into play.   Personal plans are to stay home were possible, travel local, wear masks when out in public places, social distance around others outside the three of us, and suggest others do the same if they can for the next couple of months.

May I add my Christmas greetings to everyone. I'm off to pick up my handicapped son shortly and my other son will be joining us from Hampshire later  Zoom get together with the grandchildren tomorrow or the next day as the new restrictions have prevented me from meeting up with them. Traditional turkey for lunch but no Christmas pudding. Strawberry trifle instead.

I have spent the last 20 minutes trying to fix the Christmas lights....on my jumper!

Seems if you punch me in the stomach they will work briefly.  With a three year old coming round later that may not prove a practical solution.

Happy Christmas to one and all whatever you are doing.  I will be shortly be decanting the contents of the fridge into the oven with the hope I can serve up something palatable before falling asleep during the afternoon, either before or after the Queen's speech.

Just back from Church. Quiet snack lunch soon then for a walk. Daughter out visiting while she can, but will be joining us for traditional Goose with fruit stuffing followed by Christmas pudding this evening.

Now there's a thing - never had goose.  Might have to think about that.

Leftovers make a very good goose and bacon pie.  The fruit stuffing has been soaked on Port for a couple of days.  The leftover stuffing also goes in the pie.

Goose is good.
Around here there is a plague of Canada geese, they are large, numerous, stupid and good to eat. AFAIK a licence is required to shoot them, but this is easy to obtain.

Neighbours kids stated that they are "bored with goose" and wanted roast beef for Christmas.

Seagulls like the little ones, too. The ones in this picture are called simply "geese".

The compliments of the season to you all! Bubble and squeak shortly.
