He said: "We have no intention of introducing congestion charging in the city without the necessary public transport systems in place first." Those systems could include four Bus Rapid Transit routes , extensive bus network improvement schemes , rail improvements , new park and rides and improved cyclist and pedestrian routes. The West of England Partnership - an alliance of the four councils in the former Avon area - has mooted a daily congestion charge of ^4. Conservative councillor Richard Eddy tabled a motion at the council meeting that called for "acceptable public transport alternatives" to be in place before a congestion charge is imposed. I was merley reporting what I saw - and if you have a problem with that then come and tell me at Trowbridge station!
