Not a good start to the New Year for the five of the six most westerly branch lines.

St Ives: Service suspended because of a door fault on the train
Falmouth: Problems with one of the units - leaky cab
Newquay: Line flooded - road replacement
Gunnislake: Tree fallen on the line
Paignton: Signalling problems at Torre

Interestingly, the 6th would be Looe, always the "usual suspect" on days like this but currently (touch wood) running normally at present?

I must admit I was surprised about Looe too and checked there was actually a service running on the line today.

Things have improved.

St Ives, Gunnislake and Falmouth now running again.

Newquay still closed and Paignton was closed by floodwater but has now re-opened.

Next problem might the Dawlish seawall when high tide arrives around 6pm.  It was pretty foul there around midday - but at least the tide was out.

I've just pulled into Exeter St Davids on 1A35 (17:39 Penzance - London Paddington via Bristol Temple Meads; Boarded at St Austell)

Having had a VERY bumpy ride along the Dawlish Sea Wall we arrived 1 minute late. Considering an 8 minute late start at St Austell I'm impressed ;D Although now we are not moving but again not unusual for a wait at Exeter St Davids...

Apparently there was flooding at Cowley Bridge Junction (Not unusual) and signalling problems at Cogload Junction so plenty to go wrong still :P

Trains down to Penzance were not so lucky. The 18:29 from St Austell - Penzance (14:00 London Paddington - Penzance) was some 55 minutes late on the departure board. Having been caught up at Cogload and Cowley Bridge Junctions... So winners and losers by the looks of things.

DAMMIT!!! Spoke too soon. Delay of 25 minutes due to waiting for Train Crew... ::)
