Title: Credit to Cross Country - Seat reservation fault
Post by: LiskeardRich on July 27, 2014, 13:54:59
I so often hear negativity about lack of seat reservations on XC when the display fails I feel the need to publically congratulate them today for going above and beyond.

I caught the 1242 from Hayle - destination Bristol TM. The reservations had failed, but somebody somewhere had a brilliant idea. They'd hand written every reservation on blank ticket stock and placed on every seat required. Credit where credit is due its good to see the staff clearly went above and beyond today.

And the aircon was on much needed arctic mode! I was uncomfortably hot prior to boarding and the arctic conditions were a god send.

XC have their Avantix set up so that reservations can be downloaded and printed off on common stock, it's a bit laborious as you have to print every seat one at a time but it makes everyone's life a little easier down the line.

They were hand written rather than printed. That's what caught my eye.

Found a bit of a snag with their 10 minute reservation text service.  Was trying to reserve a seat for a train tomorrow.  Sent the text, got a reply.  Job done I thought - until I read the text again.  It had reserved me a seat on the equivalent train today - despite the fact it had left five hours ago!

I don't think that works that far in advance - same day only, I think
