Title: Engineering Work Cancelled Weekend 19/20 Jan
Post by: Timmer on January 17, 2008, 18:31:21
Due to the weather forecast for the weekend with possible flooding, Network Rail have cancelled engineering work due to take place between Didcot-Swindon. South Wales services will still be diverted via Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads however.

FGW have published a revised timetable for Saturday services with a Sunday timetable posted tomorrow 18/1:

Well done FGW for publishing this revised timetable at such a late stage. However, this begs the question if FGW can publish a revised weekend timetable at the last minute, why can't they publish revised timetables on their website when engineering work is taking place on main lines for other weekends? They have at least 12 weeks notice in which to publish them. I guess they can't be bothered.

FGW have to put revised engineering works timetables in TSDB - which is why they aren't made available online until possibly days before the event.

When works are cancelled days prior to it, TSDB has to be updated overnight so it makes better PR to release timetables rather than telling people to phone National Rail Enquiries when they won't know anything until the day after. ;)
