Just to show it can happen ! Caught my first train which was bang on time - no signal failures or overrunning engineering works...and I got a seat! Made my connection without any problems

Ah, but the Belgians are on strike and nothing is moving.

Wait until there's a bit of snow, or heavy rain, strong winds etc and you'll find out that NS are just the same as UK rail operators...! I've had a fair few dreadful journeys on yellow & blue trains in my time!

+I got caught tking a party from Water;loo to Hanover  2 late arrival at 22:00 and 5 trains not 3, not good. Still the hotel saved us dinner!

When we caught the train from Munich city center back to the airport at peak time on Friday there were load of seats on the train and the journey was very comfortable

I lived in Munich for some years and returned here some 6 years ago. It remains a town I am very fond of - and I go there as often as I can. As a matter of interest, which route did you take out to the airport? As you know both the S1 and S8 lines go from the city centre - the intriguing thing about them is that they leave the stations in opposite directions for the same destination. The only snag is that the S-Bahn stops at all the stations on the way - a dedicated non-stop airport service over the S1 route could run into the high level Hbf platforms in about 20 minutes - half the time of the all-shacks.
Still - generally the S-bahn works well, but the M^nchners complain anyway...

We arrived at Munich Airport very late and didn't have a clue where we were going but took the S1 - which I believe went anticlockwise. On our way back on Friday we took the S8 which was the shorter route.

Yup, it's quicker to the airport by the S8 for any station east of Stachus or the Hbf. Starting from the Hbf it's about the same whichever way you choose to travel - there are 14 stops either way!

Anyway, I hope you had enough time to be able to get at least an impression of the place.

My hotel (Marriott) was about half way around so it didn't really matter which train we took. Had a bit of a chance to look around and take in the Christmas markets but the main attraction one lunchtime was the Aston Martin dealers near the office I was working out. Yes, I know it's not typically German but I couldn't resist a drool :)

Oh yes :) I could take this way ot..what the hell ! I'd seen the new vanquish in the flesh but loved it :)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but yuch :)

The DB10 doesn't look very pretty head on. The headlights give it a sort of 'angry cat' look.

However, it does look somewhat prettier in three quarter, profile and rear view.

I'll be honest - if I had the. Choice of a DBS or a vanquish 310 I would probably go for the DBS. I really struggled withe the back end of the new vanquish but having seen one I could live with it.

Don't suppose anyone has a cheap one-77 for sale ?

I don't know about a cheap one 77 but there was one in bits when I was a Gaydon last month if you fancy a kit of parts !

That sounds like a good idea. I wonder if there is a Haynes manual to help put it back together ? After all, you can get one for a Tornado steam engine :)

...and, IIRC, a Lancaster bomber!  :)

That got me wondering what else they did them for so I ha a look
So if you have an Apollo space rocket you've been trying to put back together then you in luck.
