A woman who was killed in a collision with a train in Totnes has yet to be identified, say British Transport Police.

The incident was reported to officers just after 10am today and caused disruption to CrossCountry and First Great Western trains travelling between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth.

A spokesman for the Transport Police said: ^Our officers were called to Totnes railway station at 10.10am on Friday, December 19, after a report that a person had been struck by a train.

"Colleagues from Devon and Cornwall Police and South Western Ambulance Service also attended, and the body of an as-yet-unidentified woman was located at the scene.

"Officers are working to establish the woman^s identity and inform her family.

"The death is being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

The incident caused issues to First Great Western train services between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth.
