I was going to suggest The Old Stag opposite Liskeard Station, but I notice a couple of websites say it has closed.  Strange as it was only done up a couple of years ago.

Google shows up a recent "For Sale" advert now gone - presumably sold, hopefully to re-open - and TRip Advisor has it "Closed" too.

Any others please?

You could try the St Austell Brewery Visitor Centre. Ten minutes from the station, good food (chef makes his own pasties), and you can also take in a brewery tour and the museum. Oh, and the beer is good as well!!!!

The Sloop Inn, St Ives. Was in there a couple of weeks back. Great fish n chips and excellent ale. Always a favourite of mine. Sit outside and people watch if the weather is set fair.

I'd second the St Austell Brewery and "third" the Sloop Inn.

Depending how far west you plan to go there is also the Longboat Inn opposite Penzance Station.

I'll 'second' The Longboat Inn. Only had an ale or two in there, but seems okay. Heard good reports of both the food and accommodation.

Hub Box in Truro is great for burgers, hot dogs etc. They also have a branch in St Ives.

Their Big Kahuna burger won the British burger championship a few weeks ago

I tried it last weekend and it was without question the best burger Ive ever tried

Their Big Kahuna burger

Is that the same as the one Jules Winnfield raved about in 'Pulp Fiction'?

Forgive quoting myself, but here's my lunch from 18th March 2015 at The Sloop Inn, St Ives, and the outdoor scene. It was a lovely clear day and warm enough to sit outside and watch the world go by. Because of that there were no seats available outside, so I partook of my lunch indoors.

The Rhan Wartha (Wetherspoons) in St. Austell, perhaps 10 minutes walk.

A "fourth" for "The Sloop", a favourite hostelry on my annual jaunts from West Berks to St Ives.

As coincidence would have it we're off down there for an Easter break tomorrow  :)

Looks almost like a Summer scene in your outside picture from last month BNM!

Not a pub (and not cheap, although lunches are better value than dinners), but I would also place a vote for the Porthminster Beach Cafe in St Ives - it is very near to the Station!

Porthminster Beach Cafe gets a mention in Mitch Tonk's (he's the chef/restaurateur responsible for the current FGW Pullman menus) 'Little Black Book' of eateries to be found across the FGW network.

Thanks for those links.....also good to see the Hive at Burton Bradstock get a mention, although I don't think it's too near any railways?

Elliot arms in St Germans isn't bad.  I have yet to find a good pub in Saltash though and would be interested if anyone else has.

The Globe Inn in Sampford Peverell is too far East I know, but recommended as close to Tiverton Parkway.  Nice stroll along a canal at the back too.

The Plough Inn at Duloe is worth trying for food. It's 15 mins walk along a deserted country lane from Causeland.

For absolutely top drawer fish n' chips I reckon the Tolcarne Inn, Newlyn would take some beating.

Bit of a hike from Penzance railway station, although weather permitting it would a nice boat trip.
