Major disruption to swt services today. been busy working to day so haven't been able to get online to find out but I did hear on the radio due to an operating incident.

Person hit by a train at Surbiton about 1130.

Due to the central location on the network, trains and train crew all out of position, leading to timetable being ruined until end of service - which has usually been the result of similar incidents.

Also a failed train in or around Clapham Yard somewhere that occurred later, and that affected the Windsor side services.

Shh - that's been a secret! While there's now at least a mention of it on their live train info:

   none of those cancellations is, or ever was, actually in the list of cancelled trains.

At Reading earlier, the 15:12 was shown as delayed, then cancelled, and the announcement only mentioned the Surbiton incident. Two incoming services were missing, and both still show now on RTT as at platform at Waterloo. After that gap a few trains struggled through, then a further run of secret cancellations, not yet over. Still these are not being listed.

However, on RTT at least one train got to Twickenham Junction and vanished. I presume that they tried stealing Windsor Lines paths to divert Main Line trains - only to have that train failure so nothing worked. An they managed to do this improvisation without the train data that RTT sees keeping up with it.

There is second item of Live Train info on both problems, which includes the ticket acceptance etc. It also includes this paragraph:

So not a good day then could be some fed up customers today!! One of those days when the timetable had been thrown out the window! Sad that there had been another fatality. causing so much disruption

Ooh, that's rammed. I very rarely use the concourse now. There are stairs on each platform to the underground. I did notice the subway was a lot busier than normal and got on an unannounced train that pulled in on platform 1 this evening. My logic was that  as there was a Woking train on platform 2 then platform 1 must be via Epsom. After getting a seat my plan was to get off only if it was then announced that I was wrong.

I was unlucky enough to be travelling from Waterloo to Surbiton about 5.45pm yesterday and it was very very busy.. I was lucky enough to get on a train after about 20 minutes and even had space to breath and a seat after Wimbledon (otherwise we were going to have to go and sit it out in the bar)
