THE RAIL line near Dawlish has been closed as a safety precaution after a member of staff of a train spotted rocks falling from a cliff.

The line is currently closed between Newton Abbot and Exeter St Davids while Network Rail carry out inspections to make sure that the line is safe.

This comes on the same day that the walkway at Dawlish was officially re-opened after the storm damage in 2014.

A spokesman for Network Rail said: "A member of staff travelling on a train reported they saw some rockfall from a cliff near Parsons Tunnel at Holcombe, between Teignmouth and Dawlish

Well,  glad I'm on me holidays far away.....
