Title: Man Left Waiting At Bus Stop After Giving Wrong Kind Of Wave
Post by: Lee on February 07, 2008, 12:04:19
A bus driver ignored a St Mawes man at a bus stop because he gave the wrong kind of wave. That was the bus company's explanation to tour guide Alan January, following an angry exchange of letters about Truronian's Roseland bus service (link below.)

Mr January was waiting for the bus at the bus shelter on Polvarth Road to go into Truro in the early evening three weeks ago. But, despite waving his arms as the bus approached the driver failed to stop.

He explained:

Quote
"It was getting dark and I saw the bus coming and started to wave. It didn't look as if it was going to stop and so I started waving more frantically but it still drove right past.

"It's the third or fourth time it's happened to me, and it really was the last straw, so I contacted Truronian to complain.

"Now they have written to me to say they were sorry, but the driver didn't stop because I wasn't signalling to the bus in the correct way.

"Just what kind of wave was I supposed to give?"

Other residents have expressed similar concerns about the Truro to St Mawes via Tregony and Portscatho bus service, including elderly residents and mothers with young children.

They say that they have also been ignored while waiting at bus stops, or that some services have not turned up, making it difficult for people to get to work or to return home.

Managing director of Truronian, Geoff Rumbles, said he had personally reviewed Mr January's complaint again and looked into the letter he had been sent.

He said:

Quote
"We take all complaints very seriously and thank members of the public for bringing them to our attention.

"I'd like to say how sorry we are for what happened to Mr January and can assure him that steps have been taken to ensure this doesn't happen again."

FFS - you should put you arm out, not wave like a 4year old!
