Following a person being hit by a train between Penzance and Truro all lines have now reopened. Delays of up to 60 minutes still expected.

Thoughts with all involved

0935 CrossCountry service from Penzance to Manchester Piccadilly was the train involved. Location was Gwinear Road Level crossing.

Person hit apparently survived. Declared non-suspicious by BTP.

Air ambulance took the casualty to hospital- serious head and leg injuries according to local radio. I suspect she was lucky there is a speed restriction in place at the crossing due to issues with agriculture vehicles getting stuck on the crossing trying to turn right on the exit.

Seems like that train service is blighted!

Last Summer my brother returned from a holiday in Penzance to Stratford on Avon (via Birmingham). However he choose to travel GWR to Plymouth and then use the next XC service to Brum (12.25 HST), in preference to the four coach Voyager through Manchester service. What happened, well on that day the Manchester XC was involved in a "person struck by train" at Cullompton. I don't think that incident ended well for the unfortunate individual involved.
