Title: worth claiming v the hassle
Post by: johngreg on September 12, 2016, 22:38:05
Was coming back from Salisbury to sunningdale on Sunday via Basingstoke and reading.

Unfortunately the cross country 11.47 from Basingstoke to reading took 1 hour 20 mins approx rather than the 15-20 minster if should have. Cross country train manager said it was a point failure outside reading.

Can I claim any ticket money back? Given that my entire journey used 3 different TOCS, is it worth it?

Cross country are one of the easier to  claim through. Fill in their online form, it will send you a case reference, email a photo of your tickets with the case reference as a subject. They will send you some RTVs. Crosscountry leg that was delayed so them to claim through, they also have delay repay in place, GWR for example doesn't, making a XC claim simpler to get through.

IMHO it is always worth it for the principle of the matter if not any other reason.
