Perhaps some tweets have been deleted, ChrisB ... with some trepidation I took a look and really the only extra info aside from pictures of the emergency services there was a confirmation that the person has passed away, and that as yet they're unidentified; that latter may be providing some sort of snippet for people who may have a link to the people potentially involved.

I clicked on the twitter link before ChrisB commented and just looked again and nothing's been deleted in that time. However may have missed further updates from her?

It may be innocuous, but it's still ambulance chasing.

GWR/NR & BTP presumably disseminated the information quite rapidly by the appropriate media, so why would some half baked journo need to hover about outside the station making a minor nuisance of herself? Unless she's after some gore, though I suspect she'd not be tweeting very much if she witnessed what BTP, ambulance and train/station staff saw today.

It's her job, and I guess it's a quiet News day..........local newspapers are rarely the destination of Pulitzer prizes.

This is some of the worst disruption I have experienced in a long time.  That is in terms of time since the original incident, services that are able to run and overcrowding at Paddington.

It happened at just about the worst time of day in terms of number of people and services to be effected, and it's now nearly an hour after the original feed said that disruption would carry on until - and still some lines haven't been handed back. Could be several reasons for that - starting with something like it being a freight train involved, and no stand-in freight driver who knows that traction for miles around ...

Looking at the photos, was wondering if this is the same coal train that failed yesterday near Frome. If so, not a good couple of days.

Coal train? ??? Running very late if it was as the Somerset coalfield closed over 40 years ago ;D  More likely to be a stone service from one of the Mendip quarries.

And, if I may refer back to the original post and subsequent developments, I thought the Wokingham Paper (http://www.wokinghampaper.com/trains-delayed-death-twyford-station/) offered a balanced view of this very sad incident:

Quote
TRAINS DELAYED AFTER DEATH AT TWYFORD STATION

Train services between London Paddington and the Thames Valley are currently delayed, cancelled or on hold following today’s fatality at Twyford Station.

British Transport Police have been attending the scene after a person died following an incident with a train.

Services are running between Reading and London Paddington but not stopping at Twyford, Taplow and Burnham. A rail replacement coach is being arranged for commuters stranded at the station.

At the moment, the first train due to arrive at Twyford is the 17.48 to London Paddington, but other services are cancelled or delayed.

The first train to stop at Twyford from London Paddington is the 18.07 to Oxford.

Rail services are not expected to get back to normal until 6.30pm.

FIRST GREAT WESTERN ISSUES ADVICE

First Great Western, which operates services on the London Paddington line said that train services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised. Twyford, Taplow and Burnham will not be served.

Passengers with tickets can use them on Chiltern Railways, Cross Country, South West Trains and London Underground via any reasonable route until further notice.

However, alternative routes can add up to 90 minutes to your journey and at this time GWR recommends that customers use Great Western Railway services as they may be quicker.

USING THE BUS:

The following services are all accepting GWR tickets this evening

First Bus route 2:

Slough (Bus Station Bay 8 ) – Windsor (Theatre Royal), First Bus route 13: Slough (Bus Station Bay 12) Burnham (Station)

First Bus route 4:

Maidenhead (Town Centre Stop S2) – Taplow (Bath Rd) – Burnham (Everitts Corner) – Slough (Bus Station Bay 4)

First Bus route 7

Slough (Bus Station Stop G) – Langley (Harrow Market) – Heathrow (T5) – Heathrow (Central Bus Station), First Bus route X74: Slough (Bus Station) – High Wycombe (Bus Station)

First Bus route 8: Slough (Bus Station Bay 8 ) – Windsor (Theatre Royal) – Egham (Church Road).

London Buses route 105: Greenford (Station) – Southall (Station) – Heathrow (Central Bus Station), London Buses route 140: Hayes & Harlington – Heathrow (Central Bus Station), London Buses route 195: Hayes & Harlington (Station) – Southall (Station) – Hanwell (Broadway), London Buses route 207: Acton (Central Station) – Ealing Broadway – West Ealing – Hanwell – Southall – Hayes, London Buses route E1: Ealing Broadway (Stop D) – Drayton Green (Stop DH), London Buses route E11: Ealing Broadway (Stop K) – West Ealing – Drayton Green – Castle Bar Park and London Buses route U5: Hayes & Harlington (Stop L) – West Drayton (Station) – Uxbridge are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice.

Arrangements have been made for Great Western Railway rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.

During this disruption if you wish to use local buses as an alternative means of transport and the local bus is not accepting Great Western Railway tickets purchase a ticket for the bus journey, keep the bus ticket and send it, together with your rail ticket, to GWR for a refund of the bus fare.

(Outdated references to First Great Western notwithstanding.)  ::)

But not on the TfL routes where cash is not accepted and tickets are not issued.
