Title: "Thames trains" automated onboard announcement
Post by: hertzsprung on November 17, 2016, 11:19:49
I was surprised to hear a recorded announcement today that thanked me for travelling with Thames Trains, and advised that I could change here at Reading for Thames Trains services to Gatwick Airport.  Has anyone else heard this?  Did GWR change their name again?  :P

The original automated announcement system is still installed on a few Turbos alongside the new system, so somebody obviously thought they'd have a bit of a laugh and cue up one of the old announcements!

They're progressively being removed though, so it won't be possible for much longer!

Put back the brown first class and it could be marketed as a heritage turbo ...

It would be even better still if they could cue up one of the French-language announcements which I once heard on a Turbo arriving at Reading (from Gatwick). "Nous sommes arrivés au terminus!"
