Title: 'Rivers with Jeremy Paxman' Channel 4
Post by: JayMac on March 05, 2017, 22:09:05
I'm enjoying this series where Jeremy Paxman travels up, down and alongside some of the great rivers of the United Kingdom. I do like his lightly sardonic and gently acerbic presenting style.

In tonight's episode (5th March 2017) he was travelling up the River Severn and one part of the journey included a trip on the Severn Valley Railway.

He gave a brief history of the line and its revival as a heritage railway, pointing out that everyone line side waves at a steam train, saying this was probably because the steam locomotive is the closest thing to a living, breathing being that humans had ever made. He finished that particular piece to camera with, "But I'm not here to wallow in nostalgia like some television presenters I could name, in pastel jackets."

Whoever could he mean?!  :P
