Title: Person Struck by Train at Nailsea and Backwell 28th March 2017
Post by: trainer on March 28, 2017, 13:27:03
I've not long returned from Yatton station where a train towards Cardiff was still standing when I left and all trains were marked 'Cancelled' or 'Delayed'.  Scrolling message was warning of delays due to a person having been struck by a train near Nailsea and Backwell.  XC reporting the line is blocked and emergency services in attendance.

UPDATE:  NR reporting line now clear: disruption expected until 14:00.

The Bristol Post (http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/person-dies-after-being-hit-14868) reports that sadly the person has died. There are no other details of any notes.

My thoughts are with that person, their faily and friends, and with the rail and emergency staff involved.

While I live quite close to Nailsea & Backwell Station, I was completely unaware of this sad incident, occurring as it did just before I went to work.  It wasn't until I got home this evening, and read this topic, that I even knew something had happened.

My thoughts, too, are with the family and friends of the deceased, and with the railway staff who deal with such very sad incidents so professionally.
