Okay, good signs of a developing spring so not presumably up north yet. South/ Southwest?

I am thinking Totnes but not sure. The underpass to the Dart Valley Railway there?

Sorry, no. That's too far west...

The brickwork leads me to think it might be Swindon way ?.

Good point WP. Time for me to reconsider.

Seems a clue is in order.

There are a couple of steam engines close by...

... and I've just found a picture of it on Google Earth - the Crofton Railway Tunnel.

Correct!

I spent the afternoon at Crofton photographing trains and the environs. New camera needed an outing. A friend had offered me a driving lesson and when we worked out how much time we had and how far we could go, we decided on Crofton. A303 is a challenging drive for a novice. Particularly returning west into the setting sun. All good practice, and I actually had another small section of the A303 on my test today.

I'll add some pics from Crofton tomorrow.

Knew that instantly - even thought I hadn't seen your Facebook post.   Lovely spot ... with the engine house at the top of the steps, and the canal just to the south of the railway.   Marvellous views ... walkable from Bedwyn Station, also from Pewsey though that's quite a long way.

More pics. Not ideal light, and the shits I really wanted, from up the hill opposite, looking across to the Engine House, weren't possible. A Travis Perkins lorry was spoiling that scene. I did bag my favourite power car though - 43003 Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Didn't recognize it although I've been there. Mind you, it was closed at the time.  ::) It would be good to go again, when it's open. How long is the walk from Bedwyn station (miles or minutes)?

About 30 minutes, best way is along the K&A towpath. There is also Wilton Windmill just down the road; and the Swan for refreshment after the journey.
If you are feeling energetic then I can recommend starting at Pewsey and ending at Bedwyn, thus needing a break at the Swan!

Thanks. I'd probably be accompanied by an almost-teenager so it'd be the shorter way!

I trust they were possible later in the day for you, even if you were not able to take full advantage of the earlier pleasant view!
