Title: Dorchester East Station
Post by: grahame on July 30, 2017, 19:13:55
From the Dorset Echo (http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/15442811.Does_Dorchester_have_a_new_railway_station_/)

Quote
RAIL travellers have been left directionless after a council mistake pointed to a sign of the times in Dorchester.

Dorset County Council admitted it made an error when it put up a new sign on the road for pedestrians, directing travellers to 'Dorchester East' railway station.

The council replaced the sign at the Great Western Cross traffic lights when it overhauled the junction as part of the town's transport improvement project.

The sign is of course meant to state Dorchester South station and is for the benefit of passengers crossing the town after alighting at Dorchester West.

So - where are there North, South, East and West Stations ... and I think one on the Main Line too.

That'd be Acton.

And you forgot Town and Central.  :P

EDIT: Darn. Beaten to it by Stuving.

Anyone know where there were once North and East stations that were joined as one?

Well done.  When I were a lad (in 1960s Heaton) they still sold tickets to Manors East.  Perhaps to stop people taking the long way round...
