Title: Signal Problems at Westbury
Post by: Timmer on November 02, 2017, 17:54:33
Causing cancellations and delays for many this evening:

Cancellations to services at Westbury
Due to a fault with the signalling system at Westbury fewer trains are able to run.
Train services running through this station will be cancelled, delayed by up to 50 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 19:00 02/11.

So that's five cancellations ... two of which (of course) are TransWilts services including the only peak one.

Points at Westbury North not getting detection.  Trains can only reach the line to Trowbridge if the driver signs Westbury East Loop.

I guess we've seen so many cancellations of late that a more unusual reason still raises a "not again" groan.

Typical it had to happen last night when I was heading to Cardiff to see the Stereophonics!

Thankfully GWR were pretty good this time! HST's were stopped at Oldfield Park and Keynsham (I bet the TM's cannot wait until IEP's are in greater use - will make the job of dispatching at stations like this so much easier!) and at least one Temple Meads to Gloucester shuttle was also put on. Add to that the fact the 18:08 Parkway to Swansea was a few minutes late (not sure of reason, but was 10 late leaving Swindon so that helped in my planning!), and a that meant I manged to get to Cardiff just 5 minutes later than what I would have otherwise.
