Title: Travelling Swindon-Reading/London 26/11, and next wknd?
Post by: Timmer on November 26, 2017, 07:43:17
From GWR website: https://www.gwr.com/travel-updates/live-network-updates/disruption-information

Due to M4 road works

Rail Replacement bus times between Swindon, Didcot Parkway and Reading have been amended as a result of the diversionary A-road route becoming heavily congested. Most of the buses will no longer run direct between Swindon and Reading in either direction- as has previously been advertised- and are limited to running between Swindon and Didcot Parkway in either direction. Train services are available for travel between Didcot Parkway and Reading.

Lack of cordination between the Highways England and Network Rail closing the M4 and the line between Swindon and Didcot on the same weekend. Same next weekend as well.

According to the Highways England web site the works will not be taking place next weekend* but closures will take place again over the following two weekends (9-12 & 16-19 December) and two weekends in January (12-15 & 19-22).
*which is good news for me as I have to drive up to Bourne End next Sunday :)
