Title: Bridge hit
Post by: welshman on December 11, 2017, 19:25:20
This on the ATW Journey Check

Quote
Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Llanhilleth and Ebbw Vale Parkway trains have to run at reduced speed on the line.
Impact
Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 45 minutes. Disruption is expected until 20:30 11/12.

Customer Advice
A driver of an articulated lorry has elected to drive a route not suitable for the weight and length of their vehicle. This vehicle has collided with a road-over-rail bridge on Ebbw Vale Road lane, Aberbeeg.

In attempting to free the lorry, the railway infrastructure has been damaged and the lorry has sunken into roadside verges. Recovery staff are currently unable to free the lorry. Local roads are also congested and disrupted.

Additional Information
Trains are currently taking at least 40 minutes longer than advertised. No time frame for a return to normal train running has been received.
