Title: Advance tickets Oxford to Paddington near Easter
Post by: Rostock0 on December 28, 2017, 09:09:46
Hello everyone. just wondering if anyone can help me with this mystery. I can buy an advance ticket from Oxford to Paddington on Monday the 12th of March on the 6:53 am train for £26. But for the exact same train a week later (the 6:53 on Monday the 19th of March), I can't. The website will, however, sell me an off-peak ticket costing £26.50 for the 6:53 on the 19th. But surely an off-peak ticket isn't valid that early in the morning? what's special about the 19th that means that the normal rules don't seem to apply? Could it be something to with Easter, even though Good Friday isn't until the 30th of March? Thanks,

Rostock0

Ah, that's a good point. I was assuming that if tickets are available for sale then advance tickets would have been released, but maybe they haven't. Do you think they'll disallow the off-peak tickets for the 19th when the advance tickets go on sale? It seems weird that I can use an off-peak for the 6:53 on the 19th, but not on the 12th.
