Title: 90 mph trains on 75 mph diagrams - good signs
Post by: grahame on May 29, 2018, 08:56:03
Interest to observe this morning a couple of 166 runs (Melksham - Trowbridge and Trowbridge - Bristol Parkway) where the train was consistently arriving a couple of minutes early into stations and having to wait for time - and that even on some runs that were scheduled for as little as 10 minutes / departure to departure.

Certainly proved what can be done - Melksham to Temple Meads in 52 minutes, change at Trowbridge. An it was an all stations ("Bristol MetroWest") from Trowbridge too.

P.S.26/6 passenger numbers for the 06:36 off Melksham, and according to folks I spoke with trains are quieter than normal as it's day after bank holiday and half term.  Certainly lots more capacity than I expected on trains I used after TransWilts.
