Title: Thameslink Tickets to Brighton
Post by: CJB666 on June 01, 2018, 20:04:32
Not sure if I should mention this.

However we go down to Brighton a lot; huh - for the nearest beach to West London.

We go via SWR to Clapham Junction, then take a Southern down to East Croydon.

At East Croydon it is possible to purchase, from the machines only, Super Saver D.R. tickets for Brighton - at really low prices. You have to ignore the expensive top page offers from Southern, and drill down using 'Find a Station' by spelling the name. Then the Thames Link fares are also listed. We've been doing this for years. The tickets are marked 'Thames Link only.'

However the validity is for Southern services as well - same company Govia of course - which are usually priced at double what we pay!! So we get Southern comfort at the same price as the far less comfortable Thames Link.

Not many know about this, and I guess most pay the more expensive fares whatever.

BTW we have tried to get these Thames Link tickets online - but cannot. And SWR ticket office staff at Feltham refuse to even look.
