After a couple of very pleasant officer's meetings of MRUG, we're setting an exciting agenda for next year.    For our meeting on 28th November, the following are proposed for the main agenda:
* An introduction from Sophie Martin, the new TransWilts Community Rail Officer
* An update on capacity and timetable studies
* A discussion (and a decision) on applying to ACoRP to join as a friends group
* Final planning for Santa on 9th December
* Early plans for the remembrance day out for John Money (28.4.2019)

The Melksham Station Hub (CCIF bid), more details of the “TransWilts Ambassador” role which TransWilts will shortly be introducing, buses to and from the station, and suggestions for adoption of the station and classic 'friend's work' now that the platform extension building works have been completed will - no doubt - all come up too.  Many of those will be forming the basis of planning forward for 2019, which we really hope will be better for service reliability so that we can start to grow passenger numbers and again become one of the fastest growing stations in England!

The Melksham Rail User Group meets next at 19:30 on 28th November and welcomes all. The train service has grown in recent years, with passenger numbers greatly increased, and at the November meeting we'll be meeting the new TransWilts Community Rail Officer - Sophie Martin - who has come on board to increase the future effectiveness of the Community Rail Partnership. If you want to have an insight about her plans, and services and facilities at Melksham for 2019 and beyond, please come along and meet her.

Sophie comes with a mandate to get everyone involved - MRUG and TransWilts will be delighted to have train users and people from the community helping keep the station tidy, talk with passengers, spread the word, and do all the other things that have made Community Rail such a success across Great Britain. Who knows – you may be selling Coffee in our cafe by 2020!
