Title: Jasper attack! Redland.
Post by: JayMac on September 22, 2018, 16:38:51
Staff have been asked to inform passengers of aggressive behaviour at Redland Station today, 22nd September 2018.

The culprits? A nest of wasps.

Stripy b*****ds.

They are pretty snotty at this time of year because they know their time is almost up as it becomes colder.

I'm pretty snotty at the moment too. Bleddy cold*. ::)

*Correct diagnosis is, of course, masculine influenza.

I had an interesting altercation with a jasper on my way to Montpelier the other day - it got stuck between my specs and my eye, and then got rather annoyed and stung my glasses. Could have been worse!

Yes it can be worse. I had one get between my glasses and face while cycling some years ago, which eventually stung me just below my eye. It was exceedingly painful, and made cycling home not easy!

A lot of wasps get caught in spider's webs at this time of year, and end up providing a winter meal for them.

Been stung three times this year. First by an insect unknown, second by a bee and third by my Virgin Media bills.

Tangential in the extreme, but revisiting this thread reminded me of this excellent Monty Python ditty:

If you want to sing along:

"A one, two. A one, two, three, four

Half a bee, philosophically
Must, ipso facto, half not be
But half the bee has got to be
Vis-a-vis its entity, d'you see?

But can a bee be said to be
Or not to be an entire bee
When half the bee is not a bee
Due to some ancient injury?

Singing

A-laa dee dee, a-one two three
Eric, the half a bee
A, B, C, D, E, F, G
Eric, the half a bee

Is this wretched demi-bee
Half asleep upon my knee
Some freak from a menagerie?
No! It's Eric, the half a bee

A-fiddle de dum, a-fiddle de dee
Eric, the half a bee
Hoh hoh hoh, tee hee hee
Eric, the half a bee

I love this hive employee
Bisected accidentally
One summer afternoon, by me
I love him carnally

He loves him carnally
Semi-carnally
The end

Cyril Connolly?

No, semi-carnally

Oh

Cyril Connelly"

I would like to state that on 22nd September I was not in on or at Redland station. Though my little cousin might have been. We despair of him, he doesn't even make his own honey.
