Poppy wearers, as well as serving Armed Forces personnel, Cadets and veterans travel free on Remembrance Sunday on all West of England services

Bus company’s offer aims to encourage people to attend commemorative events to mark 100 years since Armistice Day

Bus operator First West of England is offering free travel across its entire network including Park & Ride and metrobus services on 11 November 2018 to people who wear a poppy so they can attend commemorative events. The local bus operator decided upon the generous offer to mark that it is 100 years since the Armistice was signed on 11th November 1918, bringing about the cessation of hostilities in the First World War.

To claim the free bus travel, all people need to do is wear a poppy when they board. As in previous years, serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans as well as Cadets in uniform, veterans wearing military medals or people with a relevant military ID card also travel for free. As a part of the bus operator’s support for Remembrance Sunday, many buses will have poppies fitted on the exterior of the vehicle.

See follow up at http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=20645 to mark this day as a whole, and not just the rather specific stuff about public transport for the day that has been posted here.
