Title: Taking the Christmas decorations down, back to regular service
Post by: grahame on December 30, 2018, 07:21:06
The Rail industry may still be doings its Christmas and New Year works ... but in my usual "bah, humbug" way I'm calling Christmas over as far as festive decorations (or, rather, the tiny bits of tinsel) on the forum are concerned.  Back to the Coffee Shop logo to reassure members and lurkers of continued service ....

For the record, here are the images that popped up in its place over Christmas 2018:

A lot of background work has been done towards modernising the forum and other sites on the server; members may have noticed that I have not yet switched the underlying software;  issues with needing to upgrade the PHP and as soon as I do that  the old software will no longer work.  And it would be so easy to make a mistake on the live server - having two web servers running at the same time or different hosts on the same computer calling up different versions is too risky for my liking.  Updates will follow - I do have a plan of action  ;D . Best right than rushed and I have been rather overwhelmed by none-Coffee-Shop issues.

Tend to agree with you on all counts.  I am currently with folks in the "let's stretch Christmas as far as we can" camp.  Think they are aiming for 12th Night by which time it will the Russian equivalent of Christmas Eve!

As for the server it is so hard working on a live site isn't it?  Twice I have planned and planned and both times some niggle has crept through when I have made the change public.  Seems you can never do too much preparation.

Thanks again from all of us for the "unseen" work you do.

Some leave Christmas decorations up until Candlemas (2nd February)!
