Post by: grahame on March 10, 2019, 09:01:12
I could start an awful lot of threads and drown boards with what I find interesting in the wider UK news ... so here is (initially) 3 in one - from 10th March 2019.   Please feel free to quote / start fresh threads if something is of more than passing interest.  I wonder, for example, if the Spalding call for trains to be moved out of the town to allow level crossings to close may ring a bell (or sting) in Portishead ...

"Free bus travel for all in Scotland" call by scottish Labour Leader - BBC (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-47497539)

"£200million train cab where drivers can't see out the window: Station signals obscured from the seat and views blocked by a wall housing the safety ladder put passengers in danger" - Daily Mail (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6790547/200million-train-cab-drivers-window-passengers-danger.html), re: Great Northern class 717

"The idea of moving the railway around Spalding to avoid a few traffic hold ups is the limit, and shows a complete lack of understanding of the matter." - Spalding Today (https://www.spaldingtoday.co.uk/news/letters-to-the-free-press-editor-9063985/)
