Title: Free Job Interview Rail Travel for Middlesbrough Job Seekers
Post by: Lee on March 16, 2019, 08:32:25
Middlesbrough Council has joined forces with Northern to provide them with free train travel to attend job interviews in the region - https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/local/teesvalley/17504885.job-seekers-free-rail-travel-scheme-for-middlesbrough-residents/

Here in Brittany we have a similar scheme that gives 75% off rail travel.

And, as mentioned elsewhere on this forum earlier in the week, every jobseeker in the UK, unemployed for three months or more, is entitled to a free Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card. This gives 50% off walk up standard class day rail fares and season tickets valid for up to 3 months.

The jobcentres have always had the ability to issue travel warrants, with restrictions to when it can be used. They don’t seem to issue them unless a seeker asks.
Tell job coach you’ve been offered an interview but can’t afford to get there, they can issue a warrant for travel between where you live and where the interview is. I believe it is valid intermodal too.

Plymouth citybus posted recently to show them proof of interview and current unemployment for a free return. Not sure how it works
