Title: Sunday service for Acton Main Line and West Ealing
Post by: IndustryInsider on March 28, 2019, 15:24:49
With engineering possessions now reducing, it looks like TfL Rail will be service Acton Main Line and West Ealing on Sundays - there has been no Sunday service at either for decades!  Two additional trains per hour will operate between Paddington and Hayes between 09:30 and 21:00 calling Acton Main Line, Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Southall and Hayes & Harlington.  This gives West Ealing and Acton Main Line a 30-minute frequency of service.  Hanwell misses out though sadly.

Yes, hopefully Taplow, along with Iver and Hanwell, will follow suit eventually.

"Eventually" - I won't hold my breath though!  :)

Well TfL rail are set to take over most stopping services between Reading and Paddington from December using their 9-car Class 345s.  This will include all trains (save for the odd really early/late service) that stop at Taplow, and should coincide with completion of platform extensions at Slough and Maidenhead meaning weekend possessions won’t be needed as often.  So, it could happen then or soon after.

A warm welcome to new Sunday services at Iver and Taplow, introduced by TfL Rail today.  Just Hanwell to go now...

Walked past Taplow earlier and could barely believe it, thought I'd got my days mixed up - ticket office open on a Sunday  and trains running...…...now why couldn't GWR have managed that?

Presumably because DfT would not pay the extra in the franchise for them to do so and it would have made a loss.

Also they've only just finished running the 2 track railway on Sundays, which was another excuse for not stopping. Hopefully we now have the all week 4 track railway.

Although today is not a good start.
