Title: Service is much better since summer last year
Post by: Rostock0 on March 31, 2019, 13:03:22
I take the train from Oxford/Didcot to London roughly twice a week. It used to be the case that every journey I took (as in, literally every single one) was late. Usually not enough to claim, say fifteen minutes or so, but always enough to be annoying. Since the summer of 2018, they've all been on time. The change is dramatic. Thinking back it seemed to coincide with Oxford being shut for a fortnight - the improvement seems to date from when the station re-opened. Have other people noticed the same thing, or have I just been lucky, please?

There’s no doubt the resignalling and revised track layout has improved things massively at Oxford.  Much more flexibility of operation and higher speeds that lead to a reduction of journey times.

The previous layout struggled at the best of times, but was really pushed to the limit and beyond when Chiltern started running, with the biggest pinch point being everything using platforms 1,2 and 3 having to share the same bit of track.  That’s now a thing of the past.

I’m glad the passengers have noticed the improvement.
