A footbridge over the railway in Lincoln's Brayford Wharf East has finally been built after years of setbacks.

The bridge deck and steps were installed onto the concrete towers overnight on Saturday, April 6.

And it is set to open to the public in the middle of May, with the level crossing opens to pedestrians and cars by the end of next month.

Looks as though the OLE would be mercifully quick compared with that.

Yeah ... I did find it slightly macabre.   I suspect the risk assessment's been done and the spikes are so high up it's not a problem.

But surely that's architecture - or something - so that's all right anyway?

Looks good. Having seen pictures from other angles, I'd propose the name, "Dionaea Muscipula" ;D

It would make a stylish comb.

I expect the spikes are not actually as sharp as they look. But using spikes (real, sharp ones) as a deterrent or security has many precedents and other (modern) examples.

Is it a new design to stop brexiteers getting access to the railway and causing chaos?
