Title: Massive Disruption at Paddington - ALL services cancelled
Post by: CJB666 on May 28, 2019, 20:33:29
Apparently a female 'jumper' was trespassing on the tracks at Hanwell. From about 15.30 trains started getting delayed. Then at about 16.30 the TfL services to Heathrow &/or Hayes were getting cancelled. Meanwhile the departure board at Paddington showed Delayed for every outbound and inbound services. Finally at about 17.00 ALL services were wiped off the board - zero, zilch, sfa services. Paddington was effectively closed.

Of course there were no customer service managers on the concourse, one info. desk near W.H.Smiths was closed, and there were no HAL / Hex staff to advise on getting to Heathrow. Funny how staff disappear under their rocks when there's a disruption. Thousands of commuters couldn't get home. Police were in attendance in case passengers got annoyed.

Apparently the disruption was cleared around 20.00.

Any chance of a void day? I doubt it.

Delay repay covers this now.

As reported by bobm earlier, and I think his more sensitive description of the unfortunate situation was rather better than yours too.

Actually I thought the station announcer did a great job of people informed. He also made clear that there was no point in asking GWR staff as at that point they knew no more than he was announcing.

He also explained why some of the decisions such as blanking the screens were happening.

It did all start to fall apart a bit once the trains started running but up until that point I'm not sure much more could be said.

Not if you have an annual season ticket.

Ditto for a monthly season ticket
