The Weymouth Wizard is an annual outing for parents and children to the seaside from Westbury and has been running now for four years.  The trip is a collaborate version overseen by Westbury Lions Club but run in connection with several other groups.  GWR are the main sponsors, without whom the trip would not run, as they donate a large number of free tickets for the train.  The schools from Westbury offer these to their pupils and select from the four primary schools in the town those able to go.  The Heart of Wessex rail partnership provide a lineside guide for the journey and details of things to see and do in the town whilst Westbury Lions give each traveller a ‘goody bag’ with a snack and materials to keep the young ones active on the journey.  A Wiltshire councillor for the area, supported by other volunteers, supervises the journey and ensures all goes well.  For the first time Transwilts CIC is assisting and are to be ‘welcomed aboard’.

Report on the day.  0930 WSB - WEY formed of only 3 coaches instead of 4.  On the advice of GWR some of us travelled to Bath to get on the service there inorder to try to ensure seats were available for the group.  Return train was changed to 1608 at request of GWR.  1608 (and 1730) departure only 2 coaches.  Not good for a sunny Saturday.  Managed to get everyone on board with few spare seats after Weymouth departure.  A few passengers unhappy about the lack of seats.  Lovely weather all day.  Thanks to the GWR onboard staff who were very helpful in difficult circumstances
