Title: Trains not stopping
Post by: Phantom on August 06, 2019, 10:04:24
I wanted to pick the brains of people on this forum please.
Sunday afternoon I was waiting for a train at Parson Street to travel back to Weston.

The train approached the station but oddly went straight through without stopping

We tried using the information point on the platform, the guy on there was totally useless.

In the end I had a reply to a tweet of mine saying that the reason the train didn't stop was that it was "Full and Standing"
Well those of us waiting could clearly see that this was not the case

I was wondering how and why this decision is made to not stop a service. Parson Street is sparsely served as it is, but on a Sunday even worse
As a regular commuter between Temple Meads and Weston I have experienced many many services with people crammed in, yet will still stop at all these local stations, I am intrigued why this was different on this service?

I note that the train was formed of 2-car unit instead of a 3-car unit. Did Bristol City play that afternoon? If so, an expected large volume of passengers may have influenced the decision.

Some of whom, presumably, would be wanting to join the train at Parson Street

Phantom: Were you provided with alternative transport? How did you get on?

City were indeed at home, but due to a problem back home I needed to leave the game early.
The game was still playing when the train was due

We had to wait for the next service which was the 1913 train - by then heaving because the football crowd had arrived
