17:30 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads due 20:09
19/08/19 17:30 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads due 20:09 will be started from Westbury.
It will no longer call at Weymouth, Upwey, Dorchester West, Maiden Newton, Chetnole, Yetminster, Thornford, Yeovil Pen Mill, Castle Cary, Bruton and Frome.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.
Additional Information
Road transport has been requested.

Surely this train being a ‘peak’ service during the school holidays should be given priority to be crewed.

Hopefully a crew member will be sourced and the service reinstated.

That is an astonishing train to cancel.   But then it's not the only astonishing recent cancellation.

What is strange is that the inbound working is operating.  To gthe best of my knowledge GWR do not have Weymouth based crews so how are the crew from the inbound working getting home?

Very odd. Should be the same driver, guard and unit that work the 17:30 departure as arrive on the inbound service at 17:10. Hopefully this service is on the alteration list in error?

Indeed, and both the same driver and guard have actually been officially allocated onto the 17:30 as bring in the 17:10 arrival, with no current messages to say it's cancelled, only the one from yesterday evening.  I suspect it's been reinstated, but because it's an entry from yesterday it has been missed by those responsible for the feed to JourneyCheck.

Not showing as cancelled on RTT, whereas the Trans-Wilts ones are.

Some of the TransWilts ones are shown as cancelled ... others not; RTT tend to only show cancellations shortly before the train doesn't run ... 17:36 Swindon to Westbury still shown running RTT but not journey check.

Now reinstated on JourneyCheck, though replacement road transport has still been requested apparently!

It's on the way.    Probably shown as cancellation in error.  These things do happen

Agreed.  Always interesting to see how many people use a re-instated train ... even if was purely accidentally de-instated in the first place.   An information failure that can't be good for business.

Good to read the service actually ran in the end ensuring those who traveled to Weymouth for the day by train were able to travel home by train.
