Title: Strange Fare Differences to North Wales
Post by: Celestial on September 10, 2019, 10:30:18
Researching a possible trip to North Wales I've discovered the following anomaly.  Using anytime single fares, to Conway:-
Newport  £78.40
STJ         £78.40
Patchway £52.80
B T Meads£52.80
with the last two being via a change at Newport.
Is there anything to stop me buying a ticket from Patchway (or even Pilning, and then saying I had to start from STJ as there are no trains from Pilning!) to get the cheaper ticket?

better still, as break of journey allowed on Anytime singles, is to simply join the train at STJ and, only if questioned, say you changed trains at STJ, and buy as from BRI. But I doubt yuou'll get asked.

There's really no need to volunteer information about pretend journeys.

The National Rail Conditions of Travel permit starting short on an Anytime Single.

I had better not add comment about SailRail tickets from Bristol to Dublin routed via Newport and Conway, as brea of journey is not allowed.

Thanks all. Good to know that it is allowed.
