Title: RailFuture national AGM - 27th June 2020
Post by: grahame on October 05, 2019, 09:11:32
A date for your diary if you are a member ... a date for my diary as the day I retire from being a director of said organisation.

I hope you (re-)consider standing as I think a three year term would allow you to get fully stuck in and influence the Board in a positive way

;D ... the term "retire" came from the Railfuture site, rather than me coining it, and is applied to the final date on their current election to all directors whether the membership has elected them for three years or for a shorter period. I am rarely one to make a significant move without very careful consideration.   You are correct in your implied suggestion that a period significantly shorter than 3 years (1 year in my case) is rather short to make a mark.

The Railfuture AGM for 2020 has been cancelled. Next AGM will be Spring 2021; constitution and law allow it.   The annual conference (scheduled for the autumn) is no longer happening as a physical meeting - logic being that members and guest speakers may [still] be nervous about travelling, and there could be lots of clashes as everyone tries to fit in their meetings.  I understand that Railfuture are looking at online meeting options for the autumn.

Quote
As that AGM has had to be cancelled so too have the RUG Award presentations, and the visits to nominees by Vice-Presidents in preparation for their judging panel planned for early-June 2020.

The nominations received by the closing date of 1st March 2020 came in for all six award categories, from across all three nations of Britain, and from 9 of our 14 branches. Next steps, in view of the next national AGM being in the required May-July period in 2021, are likely to be a rolling-forward of the RUG Awards process by about a year. Already-submitted nominations will remain valid, and can be supplemented, ahead of a new closing date in early-2021 by when new nominations will also be welcomed.
