Title: Signalling problems, Sunday October 20
Post by: Worcester_Passenger on October 21, 2019, 15:06:36
I travelled back from London to Worcester on the 17:48 yesterday, Sunday October 21.

At Didcot, I could see an ominous extra on the platform displays - "this train may be subject to delays from Evesham on account of signalling problems".

I looked this up on the NRES website, but there was no mention of a problem. Same thing on GWR's JourneyCheck.

The first on-train announcement about this was at Evesham, when the Train Manager came on the PA and announced that we were going to be here for some time waiting for a delayed train coming the other way. It felt as if pilotman working has been instituted - the Train Manager talked in terms of waiting for a signaller arriving on the other train.

The up train arrived some 29 late. We departed some 35 late and got into Shrub Hill 33 late.

I'm curious as to why something as drastic as this wouldn't make it onto either NRES or JourneyCheck. Do these not get updated on Sundays?
