Title: End of an Era

This cropped up elsewhere.  Ironbridge is of course a site of huge historical significance, and its supprising that the power station, although only dating from 1969, wasn't retained in some form for future posterity:

"The power station was switched off when it reached its 20,000 hours limit of generation under an EU directive."

(BBC report)

Sad to see all that UK made gear being torched

Or in the case of Didcot being exported to Germany, which presumably means it wasn't that bad.

Next door to the towers is the cavernous turbine hall, where you could be forgiven for thinking you have wandered on to the set of a Mad Max sci-fi film.
What it makes me think of is Planet of the Apes.

Do you mean the (SGT?) transformers going to Siemens? For re-use or re-cycling?

Presumably they were UK made GEC units.

I loved the comment of the lady interviewed at the end.
