It wasn’t quite so much of a problem at Fareham when they painted “Drop Of Zone”.  The space was just big enough to squeeze in a pretty narrow F...

Remember "Bristol Airpot", only corrected after an appearance in the press? Or the act of mischief that resulted in Avon and Somerset Constabulary having a "Mounted Dog Section" at Bower Ashton until the day after Private Eye published a photo? And of course, this, later used by a leading optician in their adverts:

I showed the picture in the opening post to someone born and brought up in Penzance and he couldn’t see the problem.

There's a warning notice at the 1991 entrance to Reading (General) with the following spellings:

INPLIED

VIOLANCE

Beter beehayv owerselvs then.

Actually, it's not a mistake at all. There's a small island just off Land's End called Pedestia and the inhabitants of said island are notorious bus thieves.
